Waking up and surrounded by vampires, Cole's neck is cut, allowing droplets of his blood to drip into the corpses mouth. He makes his way through the catacombs looking for any civilians in trouble, and soon finds at a woman calling for help, but when he tries to assist her, she quickly knocks him out.Ī group of vampires then proceed to drag him into a room containing a female vampire's carcass. But it seems that not all of these people have a good time.Ĭole MacGrath soon hears screams for help emerging from beneath the cathedral. They string up demonic balloons, dress up as monsters and ghouls and get drunk to celebrate this event. Zeke explains that Pyre Night is an event in New Marais where the citizens "go certifiably ape-shit" for the festivities. He asks if she's ever heard of Pyre Night, to which she replies that she hasn't, and he begins his story. Gaining interest by his mention of Cole, the woman sits down to hear his story. Zeke then claims that his so-called "kiddie book" helped him save Cole from eternal damnation. Reluctant to listen to Zeke, the woman ignores him and claims that she has better things to do than spend time with someone that reads "kiddie books". He looks her over and notices that she isn't from New Marais, so he decides to tell a story to try woo her. The woman claims that she's capable of paying for her own beer, to which Zeke simply replies "Good, glad to hear it, you can get the next round". He spots a woman approaching the counter who orders a beer, to which he also orders one and offers to pay for her beer as well. Taking place as a sequel to inFamous 2 where Cole returned after being assumed dead at the end of the prior game, Festival of Blood opens with Zeke sitting in a bar reading what appears to be a vampire comic. Otherwise he will remain a vampire and be in Bloody Mary's control forever. He has one night to find and kill the Head Vampire, a.k.a. Even with this extra content, don't expect too many hours of gameplay, as Festival of Blood is a short and sweet affair.Vampires have overrun New Marais and have taken Cole MacGrath and his blood for the resurrection of their leader. There are also several hidden collectibles around New Marais to discover, giving you something to do after the main story is completed. Despite the small list of story-based missions, Festival of Blood offers some replayability, as players can also create custom missions like just like in Infamous 2. However, there are a limited number of missions, offering only a couple of hours of gameplay to enjoy. Festival of Blood contains plenty of exciting encounters, leading to explosive bouts of third-person action.

This shorter experience takes place over a single night, resulting in an extremely brief run time. You can also fly through the air in a swarm of bats, opening up more navigation options as you explore the city. There are no penalties for killing innocent civilians, as Cole must harvest blood to stay healthy. For example, Cole's primary melee ability has been altered, putting a bigger focus on melee combat. In addition to his existing arsenal of powers, Cole's new vampire form also gives him a variety of new moves. Infamous: Festival of Blood is very similar in gameplay style to the base Infamous 2 game, giving players complete control over Cole's extremely powerful abilities. This is forgivable though, mostly due to the explosive gameplay the story affords. While the tone and concept of Festival of Blood's storyline are enough to get you motivated, the plot itself falters in execution. Plagued with the vampire curse himself, Cole has eight hours to solve the mysteries of New Marais' vampire problem, working alongside a mysterious figure known as Bloody Mary. After taking interest in his comic book, Zeke weaves a tale of fright about Cole's attempts to rid the city of a vampire infestation.

Although the story still focuses on Cole McGrath, the plot itself is told by Cole's best friend Zeke, as he attempts to impress an attractive woman at a bar.
